MOUNT VERNON — The new school report cards were supposed to be released on Thursday, but the information has been difficult to access.
In a late afternoon press release, the Ohio Department of Education said the new Ohio School Report Card website has been overwhelmed by traffic since launching Thursday morning and therefore causing delays for users.
“Parents and citizens are clearly interested in improving the state of Ohio’s schools,” State Superintendent Richard A. Ross said. “Unfortunately, the overwhelming traffic is slowing down the site, but we are working diligently to make adjustments to accommodate demand.”
The interactive website, reportcard.education.ohio.gov, includes new A-F letter grades for schools and districts on up to nine measures.
John Charlton, ODE media spokesman, said there are other paths to the information. Spreadsheets with all the report card data can be downloaded directly at http://reportcard.education.ohio.gov/Pages/Download-Data.aspx. Users should select “2012-2013” then “District Data” or “School Building Data” to download a spreadsheet with all the grades.
