MOUNT VERNON — The consolidation of the 9-1-1 emergency dispatch system into a single call center is proceeding and seems to be heading for a final implementation in April 2014.
At Thursday’s meeting of the 9-1-1 Advisory Committee, Director Rick Dzik provided a timeline of events as he expects them to take place leading up to the final activation of the new call center at 117 E. High St.
Currently, three firms are preparing bid specification for the project. ECR Computers is preparing the specs for the computer systems and their installation, VASU Communications is designing the radio systems and MKC Architecture is putting together the electrical engineering plans.
Much of Thursday’s meeting involved answering questions from ECR representatives about aspects of the wiring and installation of the computer systems.
