UTICA — Utica Elementary has a new principal this year — Randy Nielson.
A native of Idaho, Nelson attended Brigham Young University-Idaho, and earned a master’s degree in educational policy and leadership at Ohio State University. He has classroom experience as a teacher in third and fifth grades.
Nielson said he loves the people in the North Fork district.
‘They are welcoming and warm,” he said. “They really seem to care about each other.”
Nielson is looking forward to meeting and working with the children at Utica Elementary.
“It is nice to see them grow mentally, academically and socially,” he said. “We want them to became productive citizens in whatever capacity they are able.”
Nielson resides in Sunbury with his wife, Megan, and three children, Seth, 6, Jonah, 4, and Leah, 2.
