MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Humane Society has received a grant from The Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County for the addition of a surgery recovery area.
This will be attached to the current surgical area and allow the procedures to be safe, more efficient, and allow KCHS to accommodate very large dogs. This addition will make it safer and less stressful for both animals and staff.
“The Community Foundation applauds and is pleased to support the humane society’s effort to more efficiently utilize its facilities to serve the needs of homeless animals,” said Sam Barone foundation director.
Terry Kochheiser of KT Construction has volunteered the labor and started the framing. Kochheiser said the addition should be completed in four to six weeks.
