CENTERBURG — The Centerburg Board of Education on Monday voted to change the high school/middle school student academic day for the 2013-14 school year from 7:38 a.m. to 2:47 p.m. to 8:15 a.m. - 2:54 p.m. The reason for the change, Superintendent Mike Hebenthal said, is to allow more time for teachers to collaborate on a regular basis. Teachers will report at the same time as they do this year. The teachers will be working together on curriculum, intervention, professional development and other matters required by new state and federal regulations.
Also at Monday’s meeting, the board formally commended Karen Allen and the Trojan Crier staff for being recognized by the Ohio Scholastic Media Association as an All-Ohio School Newspaper for the 2012-13 school year. The Crier is one of only three school papers in the state to receive the designation, and the only small school newspaper.
