Art instructor Deanna Badger said the event showcases artwork that has been selected at the Regional Level Judging of the Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. A total of nine pieces was accepted for the Annual High School Art Show. Student artwork will be on display at the Mansfield Cultural Arts Center.

The purpose of this competition is to provide all budding young artists with opportunities to advance their talent, whether that be through scholarships or simply experiencing the process of entering their work in a competition. The exhibition, Badger said, is a valuable incentive for young people; it encourages an appreciation for the arts throughout Ohio and reflects the fine quality of art instruction and talent which exist in our state.

The Regional Art Show runs through Sunday. The Mansfield Art Center is at 700 Marion Ave., Mansfield. Hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
