BLADENSBURG — The Bladensburg community will be celebrating Christmas with its annual Christmas Parade on Sunday.
Serving as grand marshals will be Jim and Gwen Dugan. The couple have long been supporters and leaders of the Bladensburg community, Crystal Gallwitz, parade organizer, told the News. Together they served as 4-H advisors, Jim served as a township trustee and Gwen has served the East Knox school district for decades.
“They are well deserving,” Gallwitz said.
The parade theme, “A Season of Giving,” will be highlighted by the continued collaboration between the parade and the Marine Corp. Toy’s for Tots program. An entry in the parade will include members of the Marines who will be able to collect unwrapped, new toys from those watching the parade. Toys can also be dropped off at the entry table or at Santa’s house.
Those interested in participating in the parade can start to line up at the East Knox Elementary School at 1 p.m. No registration is required.
The parade will start at 2 p.m.; rain or shine.
