MOUNT VERNON — Bond was set Wednesday for two people arrested in Tuesday’s drug raid.
Municipal Court Judge Spurgeon set a $100,000 cash or surety bond (no 10 percent) for Richard Lee Posey Jr., 27, of 105 Coshocton Ave. Posey is charged with three counts of possession involving heroin, cocaine and oxycodone. Each is a third-degree felony and could result in sentences up to three years and $10,000 fines.
A preliminary hearing was set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, but if the case is presented to the grand jury Monday and charges result, the preliminary hearing will be canceled.

Mary K. McGregor, 31, also of 105 Coshocton Ave., had her bond set at $10,000 cash or surety. She is charged with conspiracy to traffic in heroin, a fourth degree felony.
In asking for the $100,000 bond on Posey, Assistant Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville noted that Posey had been released from custody in Nevada on June 14, having a record of robbery, armed robbery and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon.
Posey, appearing in court from the county jail via video link, said he felt like having his record brought up meant he was being punished twice for the same crime. “It isn’t fair,” he said.
Before her bond was set, McGregor said she didn’t know why she was there. “I never did anything. I didn’t sell or offer to sell anything. I was only sleeping.”
Judge Spurgeon said she should talk to the Public Defender’s investigator.
McGregor’s hearing was set for Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m.
