UTICA — Two new council members and a new mayor were welcomed when Utica Village Council met Monday evening at town hall. Mayor Lester Grennell was presiding over his first official meeting as mayor. Serving their first meeting as members of village council were John Stone and James Quinif. Mayor Grennell presided over administering the oath of office to Quinif and Stone.

Elected to serve as council president for 2012 was Jack Raines. The list of 2012 appointments was also approved by council.

Only one business item appeared on the monthly agenda. This was Ordinance 12-002 to change the numbering system for village funds and declaring an emergency. Fiscal officer Anna Flaherty explained this was to put funds in order with the State of Ohio in making it easier to report and track funds.

Village Administrator Jud Brechler announced that he recently went through a courtesy walk-through with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. “This was for educational and informational purposes,” said Brechler. BWC representatives are to report if there are any violations or recommendations.
