Collecting coats for kids

Twinkling the ivories

Twenty-five-year-old Jason Floyd Coleman received a standing ovation after his concert in the Memorial Theater, Thursday night. A pianist, like his famous grandfather, Floyd Cramer, Coleman played a selection of Cramer’s country and pop music from his career of four decades in Nashville where he was a soloist and session musician for many country and pop artists.  (Virgil Shipley)

Concert association honored

The Community Concert Association of Knox County received a plaque from the Knox County Educational Service Center on Thursday prior to a piano concert by Jason Coleman for Knox County sixth-graders at the Mount Vernon Memorial Theater. “We thank you for your support for grades one to seven in Knox County,” said John Jurkowitz as he presented the plaque to Bill Harper, president of the Community Concert Association. “On behalf of Community Foundation, to all the Community Concert Association members, we send a big thank you to you and to everyone who made this possible.” The Concert Association has provided support for Youth Enrichment Series programs and free concert tickets to the youth of the county since 1999.
