Lybarger says good-bye
COLUMBUS -- Four years ago, Mount Vernon’s Michael Lybarger got his first taste of the State Wrestling Championships at Value City Arena. He was new to the sights, the sounds, and even the smells. On Saturday, he bid farewell to a place where he proved he belonged. Only the most elite wrestlers in the state get the chance to experience it -- and Lybarger made the trip four times. He becomes the second Yellow Jacket in school history to qualify every year of his high school career.

Thatcher finishes third overall
COLUMBUS -- It may have taken three trips, but Loudonville senior Ryan Thatcher finally made the podium at the Division III State Wrestling Championships. Thatcher beat Bridgeport’s Bryan Skoff on a 5-1 decision for third place in the 152-pound weight class.

Redbirds drop close season finale
WOOSTER -- A season-ending game for the Loudonville High School boys basketball team came on Saturday against the Akron Manchester Panthers. The Redbirds were defeated in the second round of the tournament, 59-52, at Wooster High School.
