MOUNT VERNON — Linda Kinghorn Hawkins died Dec. 24, 2015, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

She was born Linda Shultz on June 22, 1943, in Mount Vernon, to the late Carlton L. Shultz and Mabel F. Shultz.

After graduating from Mount Vernon High School Linda attended and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1966 then went on to earn a master’s degree from Ball State University in 1992. She was a speech language pathologist for 45 years, beginning her career in Monterey, Calif. She also worked in Indiana and Ohio before retiring from the Westerville City Schools.

She leaves behind her sons, Robert “Bo” Kinghorn of Sydney, Ohio, and Scott Gavin Kinghorn of Columbus; and a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Arthur Hicks.

Friends may call Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, from noon to 2 p.m. A memorial service will follow beginning at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, 1170 Old Henderson Road, Suite 221, Columbus, OH 43220.
