Baldwin runs Redskins past Northridge, 52-18

JOHNSTOWN — Two weeks after his record-shattering 471 yards against Heath, Utica running back Travis Baldwin ran for the second-highest total in Redskins history on Friday night in leading his team to a 52-18 Licking County League win over Northridge.
Baldwin rushed 39 times for 273 yards and scored five touchdowns, at least one touchdown in every quarter, for Utica (3-6). He helped the team gain 422 total yards, with 385 yards coming on 55 carries. QB Mitchell Marston was 2-of-5 passing for 37 yards, but one was a 34-yard TD toss to Jake Smith.
The Redskins defense held the Vikings (2-7) to 194 total yards, 95 rushing and 99 passing. Bryant Garee led Northridge with 45 yards rushing and went 13-of-17 passing with one TD and one interception.
Baldwin completed Utica’s first touchdown drive with a 2-yard score at thd 2:41 mark of the first quarter, and his own conversion run made it 8-0. The Redskins got down to the Vikings 7 yard line with 8:00 to play in the second quarter, and Baldwin took it from there to lift the lead to 16-0. Marston and Smith hooked up for their 34-yard score with 3:26 remaining in the half to increase the lead to 24-0.
Northridge scored twice in the third quarter, but the Redskins matched the Vikings both times. After Tanner Williamson hauled in a 19-yard scoring pass from Garee with 8:53 to play, Pierce Piazza scored at the 5:50 mark on a 13-yard run to take the lead to 32-6. Chase Hess scored with 1:21 left on a 1-yard run for Northridge, but 15 seconds later Baldwin broke off a 76-yarder to increase the lead to 40-12 at the end of the third.
Baldwin and Zack Edmister put the icing on the cake with an 8-yard run and a 5-yard run at the 6:47 and 4:56 marks, respectively, of the fourth quarter. Eric Dills scored the final Vikings touchdown on a 12-yard run with 1:33 left.
Utica will finish its season at home on Friday, facing perennial power Newark Catholic at 7 p.m.
