Defensive dominates as Scots, Barons resume
Saturday, September 21st
SPARTA — Rain and lightning ruined a good, close ballgame at Highland on Friday night, postponing until tonight a 7-0 Scots lead over Buckeye Valley.
The teams got to know each other in the first quarter, and after 12 minutes the game was still a scoreless stalemate. Highland put together a strong drive in the second quarter, lasting 15 plays, 88 yards and 6:21 of the play clock. Kyle Minyo finished the drive on a 20-yard run with 5:30 to play, and Quenton Miller made it 7-0 with his extra point.
Play continued through halftime and into the third quarter, but at 8:29 p.m. lightning forced the game to stop. Officials decided just 21 minutes later to postpone the rest of the game until today.
The game will resume at 4 p.m., due to a failure of the lighting system at Highland High School.
