Shaffer, Etgen take wins

Anthony Shaffer of Fredericktown made it two wins in a row at the Knox County Fair. Shaffer, competing in the long bus division of the Figure 8 School Bus races, wowed the crowd and the competition to win the event for the second straight year.

MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Fairgoers were treated to some high-flying action Wednesday night as the Rough Truck Competition took over the grandstand. Eighty-two drivers competed for the top spot, including many local competitors.

Solid waste nuisance on Armentrout cleaned

MOUNT VERNON — The solid waste nuisance at Armentrout Road has finally been cleaned up. Interim Health Commissioner Pat Tuttle reported an inspection by the Knox County Board of Health found all solid waste had been removed from the property.
