Well, this has been very interesting reading. But, I hate to tell you people that I don’t want the government to pay my health insurance for me. Recently, I had several bad falls but I didn’t bother with the hospital or doctor since I have no insurance. Instead, I just went right on working and paying my bills. Everybody wanted me to go see about this but I was not about to spend my money. I can’t afford to pay hospital or doctor bills. Tonight, I read that this new proposal will make us get insurance wether we can afford it or not just like car insurance. Guess what, that means that I will be living in my car if this happens since I can’t afford to pay rent, bills or food if this happens. The price of this insurance is more that I make a month at my job. Duh!! I bet I will not be the only one living on the street when this proposal goes through. Personally, I would rather be 6 feet under ground than let this country become a one world place like other countries are doing. This is where we are heading with who we keep electing in this country. Where the people have no say about who they have leading them or what religion they can practice. Stop and think about all of the parasites we now having living off our government who don’t want to work not to mention the illegals who are here getting freebies from them, too. Oh, wait a minute I won’t be living in my car because I won’t be able to afford the gas anymore. What happend to the way our fore fathers lived by living off the land, families pulling together, does anybody remember the 1930’s when depression was bad in this land. People pulled together and helped each other out even then. This country has become very arrogant over the years and now we are paying for it big time. We let others talk us out of having prayers, the Ten Commandments and the Bible from our schools and now the new generation is paying for it. So, our government has messed up our lives for years now and it looks like curtains for our freedoms now. Happy Fourth Of July Everyone!!!!

    Dear Lil Gladding;
I agree with you that health care for seniors will decline if we adopt this national health care program, regardless of the costs in extra taxes. This concerns me greatly because it is our duty to provide the best health care possible to our seniors, since they have worked and sacraficed their entire lives and paid their dues. I have a friend in Australia, his father was a farmer. At the age of 72, he contracted cancer. This man applied with the national health board to approve an opperation…it was denied as him being too old. Nine months later he died. Is this the way in which we are going to treat our seniors in the future if this national health care system passes Congress? Probably. However, we won’t blink an eye about voting to raise our property taxes once more in order to build another 5 million dollar jail or unjustified new school building. Just remember, someday, you too will need medicial care. If you don’t receive it, don’t complain if you agree with the national health care proprosal today.

  3. Lil Gladding says:

I totally agree with Debra. If Obama gets his way with health care and Cap and Trade, everyone will have to pay more taxes, not only the people making over $250,000.
Those of you that want universal health care, just wait. It’ll be just like Canada and England. Older people will be pushed aside and not be able to have the surgery they need, and die. I know it happens. I have someone in the family from Canada.
I don’t believe a word Obama says. If you people would stop watching the liberal media, you’d learn something. FOX news IS the only fair and balanced network where you learn the truth about what’s going on in this country.
I get so frustrated sometimes because I feel like I’m the only one calling and emailing my senators and congressman. They need to hear from people that don’t agree with what they’re doing. Please contact them.

As a person with a job and health insurance I’d be happy to pay a little extra so that people less fortunate could have the health insurance they need. Maybe if everyone paid a little extra everyone would be covered and we wouldn’t have such tragic stories of people needing care and going without or getting care and paying for it the rest of their lives.

Most of the responses on this issue are correct, for many different reasons. For instance, people should’nt be held responsible for carrying health insurance for those people who by choice choose not to work. On the other hand, alot of people have put the blame for the decline of our economic sititutation where it properly belongs; in the corrupt and greedy hands of our elected representatives. They love it when we point our fingers at each other instead of at them. We don’t need a revolution in this country, just responsible voting. Revolutions are for people who have no remedy of law, such as elections and courts that we have access to in this country. Lady of Luck however, with her statement about spelling errors instead of the issue at hand is a typical example of how frivioulous people can be. I’m sure she doesn’t have a clue or even really care about serious issues that this country is facing. As long as she has her cell phone, cable T.V., 26 pairs of shoes for any possible occassion that might occure, and a cushy job sitting down, she won’t care about anyone else.

Paige, you sound like a very intelligent person. I too have been very successful and you are right that you do it through hard work and education. The only problem I see with your thinking is that it is a lefty/righty issue. That is exactly how our gov. has everyone divided and are thereby able to control elections. Don’t think Iran is the only country illegally controlling the outcome of elections. I am neither right or left and I bet you and I would agree on 95% of all issues but as long as we allow our congress to sit in a position where they set their salaries, benefits, travel and many other perks the theft and corruption will only continue to grow. There has always been those who choose to be corrupt but by not having term limits we have allowed that to become the norm instead of the exception. The cost of this corruption is now what we are paying for and we will not be able to continue much longer. Stop the right and left and let us pull together as one people united. God Bless America

for get the spelling, read your history, boston tea party , any body remember what that was all about ?

  8. Sick of the BS says:

Taxing healthcare? Only if 100% of the proceeds are earmarked for a national health care plan that includes dental and vision.

  9. Larry says:

    I agree with you Skip……

  10. Lady of Luck says:

I couldnt really respond to this issue..but some of you people really need to check into spell check!!!!!!! Or how about a book called a dictionary?

  11. Skip says:

I think we all better wake up. This is not a Dem. or Rep. issue it is typical U.S. Gov. If you want to fix healthcare and social security the first thing we need to do is strip all polititions of their elite insurance and retirement programs and get term limits to stop the theft and corruption. If it doesn’t change we will be a third world country and we will have to start a revolution. I hate the way I feel about our gov. We are the best country in the world with great people. I just hope when it happens our armed services turn with the people and we take our go. back to where it should be. FOR THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE!!!

  12. j d says:

It really doesn’t matter what we want. Its amost to late for us. The only place we have any say is in little foms like this. Our gov. sold us out a long time ago………

  13. Ed S says:

We have had a backward system since 1965..Medicare..it insures the oldiest and weakist among use. The system should have been for all people up to age 65…it woulld have saved the country billions…drove the heath insurance companies out of business? Sure…look how well the free enterprise system has worked for the system we have now. Wake up people!!!

  14. Diana says:

No, No and No. 47 Million uninsured of which 60% are not American Citizens. 10 Million more make more then $75,000 per houshold. ARE YOU NUTS. The State has insurance if you cannot get any with a private Company, plus all the free programs we now have. So No more taxes!!

  15. Paige V says:

“To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his father’s, have acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.’
    -Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson got it right….I paid attention in school, studied hard, made good choices and was accountible when I made mistakes, made sacrifices to further my education and still work many hours to afford to give my family a little more. I don’t feel guilty for being “successful”, though many on the left want me to. Taxing the “rich”? HA! EVERYONE will lose. You think only the rich benefit from capital gains? Looked at your 401K lately? Sold a house lately? What happens when people with disposable income, have less disposable income? They stop buying stuff. What happens when people stop buying stuff? Companies stop making stuff. What happens when companies stop making stuff? People lose jobs. What happens when people lose jobs? People have less disposable income….

The government can not create jobs, the only thing that creates jobs is demand for a product or service. Entrepenuers are the ones that create the products and services and risk everything they have to bring them to market. They deserve to reap the rewards. Bill Gates wasn’t born a billionaire. I could go on and on and on….. It makes me very sad to see what we are becoming

Oh yeah and if you think we on the Right Side are all evil – We give more to charity than the Left too (based on a Righty and a Lefty earning similar incomes)

  16. hope says:

You would haft to be crazy to think Obama isn’t gona fix things. He is the smartest person we have seen in a while white or otherwise. I think we all should back off a little and give him some time to work. It all sounds like they should be doing whats best for the people, and why should we be so quick to jump on Obama’s back.

  17. Mark Applegarth says:

I’m just sorry that our legislators have shipped most of our industry jobs overseas due to tax breaks afforded to company’s that those to do so. The real reason why alot of Americans don’t have health insurance is because of cheaper labor overseas. Because of these prior foolish actions on the part of some of are elected representivies we are no longer a world power…we no longer have the ability to buy U.S. made goods. Thus, it follows, that companies that wish to stay in business in this country must cut costs wherever they can. I, for one, cannot blame a company for trying to reduce costs in order to survive. It just simply spirles down until everyone in the whole world is at the same level for health care. Perhaps…someday, the third-world countries will be shipping us free food and clothing. I feel bad for anyone on this small planet that cannot afford, or have access to proper medical care. Afterall, we are made by GOD and deserve the same basic human rights as anyone else. Therefore, I respectfully submitt, I just don’t know the answer.

  18. JOHN says:

I also think that another tax is the last thing we need. It’s not really going to help anything. Sad isn’t it, the government can find billions of dollars to spend on a war but none to help the people! Oh wait, thats because they’re no longer for the people but they’re on self interests. I don’t care who you voted for, the president is just a figure head anyways. Start with eliminating fractional reserve banking, and go from there!

  19. joy says:

The news is not the truth. they tell you what you want to hear. More taxes, Yeah!!!! take it all what do I need it for. pretty soon I’ll be working to pay taxes, insurance and gas. forget about the bills and food the government comes first. We pay our share where is the help back, Oh,!!!! I forgot I’m not a foreigner can’t get everything handed to me cause we live in the land of oportunity.

  20. Debra B. says:

This is intended for the former alumni, I see you have had all the koolaid you need!

  21. reid_g says:

I do not think they wiil get a bill passed, it is a smoke screen. You look at the list of which lobby groups are greasing the palms of our leaders and it is the insurance companies and the drug companies. Do you think our leaders will bite the hand that feeds them? There will be no alternative GVT plan to compete with the private sector insurance companies, even some {D} won t support that bill. What I think will take place they will make it mandatory for everyone to have health insurance and tax the hell out of everyone to pay for it.
There is talk of taxing soda and sugered drinks and junk food, for you hypocrites that thought it was ok to tax to death the smokers how do you like it turned on you ? There is also talk of a 3% national sales tax added to everything you buy and added pay roll taxes.
Instead of reforming the whole system which is needed, all of us will be forced into a health plan and the insurance companies will make massive profits and have more money to bribe our leaders. I feel sorry for the imbecelic populace that thought they were getting free health care, on the other hand the dupes are getting what they deserve. LMAO

  22. EDK says:

Mike… I like to work! I also voted for Obama. We should start taxing toilet paper so everyone get to feel the pinch. We should also tax gasoline based on MPG, the lower the MPG the higher the tax. Obviously we the people have to pay the tax burden left to us by our predecessors. The national debt won’t pay itself off. I think America as whole needs to learn to stop wasting our money on garbage and credit cards. The whole country needs a class on financial management.

  23. ADUB says:

Maybe we should start by eliminating all the scam artists in insurance!

  24. Debra B. says:

Fairyland? I don’t think so? I am supposed to be living in the home of the free? for now that is? that is until OBAMA TOOK OVER !!!!!!

  25. mike wazauski says:

Too, NB…Amen to that!! It’s the people that don’t want to work that got B. O. elected and now he’s gonna take care of them, putting us into a bigger mess across the board!!!

  26. NB says:

You people who think that the rich is going to carry this burden alone is full of it! Why should they alone be responsible for anybody else health care. Tell me where in the constitution it says you have the right to health care anyways. Why would Obama and the rest of Congress want to tax the rich? That will include them. You people who voted for Obama wanted change. You got it! Speaking of Fox News. They are the only news network that doesn’t kiss Obama’s back side. And that’s why Former alumni and all the rest who watch CNN and MSNBC can’t stand the Fox News network. Don’t say anything bad against Obama, he’s our messiah!

  27. mike wazauski says:

If this countries government isn’t careful we, the U.S.A. is gonna be in the news like Iran. We are gonna be the ones up-rising against our government. Too much government involvment, and beaurocratic bumbling, is gonna set us back to the days of Abraham Lincoln, you know the one whom Obama admires!!! Viva LaRevolution…

  28. Sammy says:

I vote NO on taxing health benefits. Some are paying ‘though the nose’ now for their portion of health care. Taxing health care will just be an added financial burden and actually may result in people canceling their health insurance all together.

  29. Former alumni says:

FOX NEWS? The truth? Boy Debra B are you in fairyland.

  30. A says:

I think “Ronnie” needs to go back to school and learn how to spell. The ones who thought of taxing health benefits probably went to school w/Ronnie. It is completely idiotic.

  31. Sage says says:

For those who feel we need to pay more taxes. Contact me. I have some for ya to pay.

  32. Ronnie says:

I’m all for it, those who are rich enough to get healthcare should be the ones who have to pay fer things.

  33. Squirrely says:

Our country is very tax-happy! If taxes keep rising, the economy won’t return because people won’t be able to buy anything. On the other hand, health care coverage is a benefit, and it seems like every other benefit has a tax connected to it. Where will it all end . . . .

  34. Debra B. says:

I think it is wrong! If you all would start watching FOX NEWS CHANNEL you find the real truth about what is going on!! We do not need to be taxed any more on anything! Our President is in such a rush to get everything passed, so the AMERICAN PEOPLE don’t take the time to think about it. Once they do take the time to think about what is actually being done, well it will be too late! These are not just my thoughts on these matters. The point is ,,,, are we all going to take a blind eye and sit idly by and do nothing? WE AS THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED TO SPEAK UP NOW, NOT LATER! OUR PRESIDENT IS ALSO BREAKING THE LAW, HE IS SLOWLY BREAKING OUR CONSTITUTON! I do hope this gets published! Think about it! Read about it! Don’t take my word on any of this!
