Bill Davis/News The Mount Vernon High School marching band created the iconic “Script Ohio” during their halftime show Friday at Mount Vernon Yellow Jacket Stadium. The band performed the same song as the Ohio State Marching Band, “Le Regiment de Sambre et Meuse,” while they unwound to form the letters. “Script Ohio” was part of a brand new halftime show by the MVHS band, which also included hit songs from the 1980s. The Yellow Jackets hosted Mansfield Senior with senior fall sports athletes and band members being honored prior to the football game.

Virgil Shipley/News The rip-rap bank along the stream in front of the Mount Vernon Kroger shopping plaza is being torn out to widen Coshocton Avenue by one lane to eliminate the traffic slow-down at the Vernon View Drive/Kroger intersection. A retaining wall will be constructed along the creek to provide the width needed for the extra lane so that two through lanes will be maintained in each direction.
