Their presentation was one of many students gave as a part of the Kenyon Mentorship Program, a collaborative effort between the college and the Knox County Educational Service Center.

Wonderful things happen when you pair gifted and talented elementary pupils in grades one through four with caring and enthusiastic Kenyon College students, and the community was privileged to observe the results of that combination Wednesday and Thursday during the semi-annual Kenyon Mentorship Tea.

Joshua Morrison/News A controlled prairie fire was conducted at Wolf Run Regional Park, Yauger Road in Mount Vernon, on Monday morning. Volunteers from Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Knox County Park District, Brown Family Environmental Center and College/Monroe Township Fire Department were on hand for three burns inside the park. Another burn was scheduled for Honey Run Highlands.

Burns revitalize meadows

Periodic fires are part of a healthy lifestyle for prairies and meadows, so teams of volunteers organized by the Knox County Park District stage controlled burns on meadow areas at Wolf Run Regional Park and Honey Run Highlands.
