Bethany Flanagan/News Equipment failure at an AEP substation near Howard and South McKenzie streets caused loss of power to about 2,100 AEP Ohio customers at about 2 p.m. Friday. According to a spokesperson, the equipment malfunction resulted in a downed live wire. The substation had to be de-energized for the problem to be corrected. During the restoration process, another issue was discovered, leaving about 1,000 customers on the city’s east end without power. As of press time, all power had been restored to city AEP Ohio customers.
