Joshua Morrison/News Dan Nagy, The Flower Basket owner, completes work on an arrangement this morning. The day before Valentine’s Day is always a busy day for florists, jewelers and gift shops.

MOUNT VERNON — Valentine’s Day is the day to show your loved ones just how much they mean to you, typically through giving gifts like flowers, jewelry, and chocolates. With the big day happening tomorrow, how are shops preparing for the influx of customers?

Dan Nagy, owner of The Flower Basket, located at 101 Coshocton Ave., told the News that Valentine’s Day is, not surprisingly, “one of (their) busier days” of the year. Typically, the few days leading up to Valentine’s Day, and the day itself are busy with last-minute shoppers.

“I’ve got everything set out, lined up, and ready to go,” Nagy said about their holiday preparation. From flowers and greens to containers, he makes sure everything is prepped and ready to put together per each customer’s order when they come in.
