MOUNT VERNON — Jeffrey Rucker’s basketball career had been slowly building up to this.

On Senior Night — a day when all 10 Mount Vernon boys basketball seniors were honored — Rucker put in the performance of his life. The senior scored 21 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked two shots to lead Mount Vernon to yet another improbable win, 67-51, on Saturday over visiting New Albany.

“It’s my last night at The Hive,” Rucker explained later. “A lot of my friends were waiting for it.”
