MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon High School is teeming with musical talent, as it is sending junior Josephine Noonan to the Ohio Music Education Association All-State Orchestra this week.

On Friday, Noonan, who plays the viola, will head to Columbus to participate in a collection of the best high school orchestral musicians in the state.

Under the direction of renowned guest conductor, Dr. James Mick, Noonan will join the youth orchestra in rousing renditions of “The Star Spangled Banner,” arranged by Peter Breiner; “Prelude to Die Meistersinger,” composed by Richard Wagner; “Komm, susser Tod,” composed by J. S. Bach and arranged by Stokowski; and “Symphony No. 4 in F-minor, Op. 36, IV Finale,” composed by Pyotr Illych Tchaikovisky.
