MOUNT VERNON — Jacqueline Taylor Upham of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully Jan. 23, 2018, at the age of 92. The daughter of Percy E. and Ethel Taylor, she was raised in Pickford, Michigan. After graduating from Michigan State University, Jacqueline was married to Stephen Pierce Upham Jr. in 1947. She is predeceased by Stephen and her brother Clark E. Taylor.

Steve and Jacquie made their home in Mount Vernon, where Jacquie was active in numerous organizations including: The Homestead Club, The Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, Psi Iota Xi Society, Garden Club and The Mount Vernon Country Club. Her passions were cooking, playing bridge and hosting parties for friends and family.

Summers were spent on the Great Lakes in Cedarville, Michigan where Jacquie was a member of the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club. Her frequently hosted annual croquet parties were anticipated by many in the Les Cheneaux Islands area. Houseguests could always look forward to a boat trip to Mackinac Island, picnics and relaxing dinners by the lake. Traveling was a another passion of Jacquie’s and she thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with family and friends on various adventures. She has skied the Swiss Alps, had high tea in Dubai and at the age of 88 explored the Great Wall of China.

Jacquie is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Lord of Naples, Florida; her son, Stephen P. Upham III and his wife Beth of Saratoga Springs, New York; her granddaughter, Carissa Lord (fiancé Travis Mills) of East Providence, Rhode Island; her grandson, Pierce Lord (Nina) of Hoboken, New Jersey; her granddaughter, Heather Kelly (Greg) of Charlotte, North Carolina; and her granddaughter, Laura Upham of Boulder, Colorado. She also leaves behind three young great-granddaughters; Stella and Adelie Lord of Hoboken, New Jersey and Ella Kelly of Charlotte, North Carolina. Affectionately known as “BJ” by her family, Jacquie a true lady and gracious host, will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ohio.
