MOUNT VERNON — Richard “Dick” Rudrick, 77, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Mansfield on Nov. 3, 1940, to the late Frank and Emma (Russ) Rudrick.

Dick graduated from Centerburg High School in 1958 and then became a mechanic. He worked as a mechanic for car dealerships in the central Ohio area for over 40 years. A big part of Dick’s life was drag racing and he spent 45 years racing at Pacemakers and any other race track he could find. He loved racing his 1964 Barracuda and people knew both him and his car. Once he retired from his trade, he spent his time taking care of Pacemakers and making sure the grass was in pristine shape. He was also an avid Buckeyes fan, but most of all he enjoyed being around his family. He moved on to a faster track and has god speed. Everyone had great respect for Dick, and he will be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his children, Rodney (Lori) Rudrick, Michael Rudrick, Melissa (Frankie) Snyder; grandchildren, Kevin (Lauren Woolson) Rudrick, Ryan Rudrick, Josie Ann Snyder; brothers, Robert (Judy) Rudrick, Frank (Pat) Rudrick; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Schonauer) Rudrick.
