MOUNT VERNON — The Knox Soil & Water Conservation District held its 70th annual meeting Wednesday at the Gallagher Center, and handed out several awards to recognize individuals and groups who care for the environment and natural resources.

The private landowner recognized for outstanding conservation efforts was Allen Stockberger. In announcing the award, Knox SWCD Board vice chairman Jeff Levering said Stockberger has installed many conservation practices to help manage surface runoff and to protect water quality. He also participates in the Cover Crop program and uses both no-till and reduced tillage practices.
