MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Fair Board appropriated funds Wednesday night to return Friday night musical entertainment to the grandstand.

No big name headliner will be pursued because of the costs, however, board members were in agreement that an up-and-coming country artist or group, coupled with popular local entertainers, could draw a large crowd.

The board expects to continue discussions on the particular details of the entertainment, possible track seating and additional opportunities to bring visitors to the gate and raise additional revenue.
