FREDERICKTOWN — A scrappy, outsized Fredericktown Freddies basketball team gave it their best effort, but it just wasn’t enough. The visiting Elgin Comets proved too much, defeating the Freddies, 68-39, in Tuesday’s non-conference matchup.

Sophie Lester led the way for the Freddies with 10 points, while her teammate, Leah Turner, dropped in nine. In the meantime, Olivia Mast and Lauren Davis, each grabbed four rebounds as the Freddies had a total of 21, nearly matching the Comets’ game total of 23.
