FREDERICKTOWN — Members of the Fredericktown Community Fire District fire board are in agreement about firefighter staffing during daytime hours, but differed Wednesday on whether now is the time to approve it.

The fire board Wednesday tabled a vote on hiring two full-time firefighters to staff the station in Fredericktown from 8 a.m. to 4, or 5, p.m., Monday through Friday, on a 4-2 vote. The consensus seems to be that they will have a plan in place to vote on in early 2018.

With the vote on Wednesday’s meeting agenda, board president Jim Braddock pushed for approval of the daytime staffing proposal. But several board members said they wanted to have a concrete plan in place before approving.

Braddock suggested voting Wednesday, then filling in the details of the contracts and hours later.
