MOUNT VERNON — The annual Lighting of the Memory Tree will be held Monday, Dec. 4, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Hospice of Knox County. Participants may honor loved ones and celebrate the season with traditional caroling at 6 p.m., followed by a soup supper. Memory Tree ornaments may be ordered at www.hospiceofknox.org or are available at 17700 Coshocton Road.

The annual Worldwide Candle Lighting Service will take place on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m., at Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene, 16001 Glen Road, in Mount Vernon. This event allows parents and family members of children who have died to honor their deceased children, including babies lost prenatally. Attendees may elect to bring a gift to be donated to a local charity.

This event is held for one hour in every time zone to create a 24-hour wave of memorial light across the globe. As candles go out in one time zone, they are lit in the next. Those who are unable to attend may participate by lighting a candle in their home at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

All events are free and open to the public.
