MOUNT VERNON — Downtown Mount Vernon celebrated an Old-Fashioned Christmas Sunday afternoon and the American Heritage Girls Troop 0377 set the tone in the annual parade with their costumes representing a time when living was simple and people embraced the importance of the message of Christmas over the commercialization.

American Heritage Girls took top honors with the Dan Emmett Best Overall trophy, sponsored by Dennis-McDaniel CPA; and Best Youth Club and Service Organization, sponsored by WNZR and Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
