MARENGO — Jack Fishburn has always been about trying to make his community a better place. Fishburn and his late wife, Karen, gave back to Highland schools and the southern Morrow County area for years.

It’s usually about making life better for those in the community, but sometimes it’s just about helping people find a job.

Recently, Fishburn was honored for the latter. He was one of several individuals to be inducted into the Ohio Natural Resources Hall of Fame for his work as owner of Cardinal Shooting Center near Marengo.

“It’s very special, I thought. We’ve expanded the shooting center, and evidently, that kind of triggered that award,” Fishburn said. “I didn’t realize the shooting sport, what an impact it has had on everybody. It worked so well, we just kept going with it.”
