CENTERBURG — They came so close last year.

The Centerburg girls cross-country team’s disappointing fifth place finish in the 2016 OHSAA Central District Cross-Country Championships was all the steam it needed to smash through to the final hurdle this year.

The Trojans finally realized their dreams in 2017. They finished second to Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference rival Fredericktown in the districts, landing them in last week’s regionals, where their fifth-place finish at Pickerington North High School earned them a berth in the 2017 State Cross Country Championships at National Trails Raceway, coming up this Saturday.
