HOWARD — James V. Long, of Howard, passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 28, 2017, with his wife by his side.

He was born in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Irene (Miller) Long.

James was a U.S. Army Veteran, Sgt. 1st Class E7, that trained troops in the Vietnam War. He was the former VP of Wilson Floors and had been an architect and builder for the last 25 years.

James is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Nancy Long; a daughter, Lea Ann Long of Delaware; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Jack) Sauer; and a niece, Amy Kisselburg of North Carolina; close friends, Ella Long of Delaware and Irene Kramer of Howard; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Maggard and Joann Fowler.

The family is planning a memorial service in Asheville, North Carolina, at a later date. The Lasater Funeral Homes are handling the arrangements for the Long family.

James will always be remembered for being a very good and caring man that never met a stranger!
