MOUNT VERNON — The First Baptist Church, located at 303 S. Edgewood Road, Mount Vernon, will be holding a rummage bake sale on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. All proceeds from the sale will go to help supply food for elementary school students and their families.

Adam Byrnes founded feedtheVERN a year and a half ago, and it is now a registered 501(c)3 organization. The organization packs bags of food for elementary students at Dan Emmett and Pleasant Street schools to give them food for the weekend.

It’s “something to fill that void between Friday lunch and Monday breakfast,” Byrnes told the News.
