MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Common Pleas Judge Richard Wetzel has issued an order on how trial exhibits are presented to a jury, following a near-mistrial two weeks ago.

The judicial order, filed with the Knox County Clerk of Courts Oct. 5, establishes a policy requiring exhibits to be checked off from a list before they are given to a jury.

The order comes after a copy of a police report that had not been admitted as an exhibit went back with a jury for deliberations on a rape case heard Sept. 26-28 in common pleas court.
