MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon volleyball team showed flashes of how good it could be, but it wasn’t nearly enough to overcome the No. 2 team in the Ohio Cardinal Conference.

The Yellow Jackets couldn’t stop the Lexington Minutemen (19-3, 9-2), who swept them, 16-25, 21-25, 17-25, on Senior Night at The Hive.

The Jackets came out flat in the first set, making some unforced errors and missing several shots. The Minutemen took advantage and got on top quickly, 15-3, with Olivia Kearns, Amelia Moore and MacKenzie Raney serving. It was not the start the Jackets had hoped for.
