SOUTH BLOOMFIELD — A fourth-place tie in individual results left Mount Vernon sophomore Maggie Williams just short of qualifying for the state tournament at the 2017 Central District Tournament at Cooks Creek Golf Course in South Bloomfield on Tuesday.

Williams shot a 1-over par 73 to tie with two other golfers for fourth place. With only two qualifying teams and two individuals from non-qualifying teams making state from each district, she finished two shots behind co-medalist Kayla Davis (71) of Gahanna and one behind New Albany’s Madison Spiess (72) for an individual berth as the only player from Mount Vernon. Williams’ score would have qualified her for state in every other district.
