Bill Davis/News Mount Vernon senior Connor Curry watches his tee shot on the 13th hole at Apple Valley Golf Course in Tuesday’s Division I district tournament.

APPLE VALLEY — If it’s possible for one person to hate a patch of land, Connor Curry has a good reason.

Curry, the lone local participant in the Division I district golf tournament at Apple Valley Golf Course, finished with a round of 79. He had a good day for 17 holes.

No. 11 had different plans.

The hole, which had been giving golfers fits all day, really lashed out at Curry. The Mount Vernon senior shot a 10 on the par-4 hole, taking him out of the running for a state berth.

“I felt that (after nine holes) I was still in it,” Curry said. “I just had to stay focused.”
