MOUNT VERNON — The rains let up just long enough to allow some of the area’s best golfers to challenge each other and have some fun in the Knox County Open at Hiawatha Golf Course on Sunday.

Knox County native Rocky Miller shot an even par 72, hanging on to win the championship by a single stroke over Mount Vernon’s Anthony Savage and Jim Hull. Miller, who led both challengers by three strokes, was two under par after 15 holes. He won despite bogeying two of the final three holes.
