MOUNT VERNON — Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer Greg Bemiller said a Board of Property Maintenance Appeals will be held Oct. 19 to consider condemnation actions against the old middle school property and a residence on Ohio Avenue.

“We’re not looking for a demolition order on the school; this is a way to get the property secured and prevent further entries,” he said at the mayor’s Friday press briefing.

City officials are meeting with the owner of the property, Jason Gonsorek, on Oct. 18 to discuss security and his plans for the building.
