Bill Davis/News Centerburg’s Abbie Miller (20) attempts to spike the ball past Danville’s CeCe Newbold during the second set in Thursday’s Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference match. The Trojans won in straight sets.

DANVILLE — The Centerburg Trojans have all but clinched at least third place in the Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference.

At least.

With Thursday’s 25-11, 25-17, 25-7 victory over Danville, Centerburg is now 9-3 in KMAC play. Northmor, the team currently in second place, is 11-1.

They meet Tuesday. A Centerburg victory, coupled with a Northmor loss to Highland next Thursday, would put the Trojans in a second-place tie at the end of the season.

They’re ready for the challenge.

“I’m excited for next week,” Centerburg head coach Sally Simpson said. “I know we have a big challenge ahead of us, but I think we’re ready for it.”
