UTICA — Utica Redskins setter Tatum Minton chalked up 39 assists and teammate Emily Londot blasted 23 kills to lead their team in a hard-fought nonconference sweep of the visiting Buckeye Valley Barons, 25-22, 25-18, 25-22, on Saturday.

It was a team effort for the Redskins, who compiled 66 digs, including 15 by Avery Ellis.

“I saw Buckeye Valley in the summer and I knew they would be improved this season,” said Utica coach Laurie Londot. “We played well today. I just want to see us stop getting a five-point lead and then letting the other team back in. Other than that, I was pleased at how we played.
