MOUNT VERNON — The 2017 Yellow Jacket Showcase of Bands took place at Energy Field on Saturday, and it was a superb way to celebrate student musicians.

Sponsored by the Mount Vernon Music Boosters and the Mount Vernon Music Department, the showcase featured the Centerburg High School Trojan Band, the Fredericktown High School Marching Scarlet and Gray, the Hiland Marching Band from Berlin, the Lakewood High School Lancer Band from Hebron, the Mount Vernon High School Yellow Jacket Marching Band and the Utica High School Marching Band.

The high energy steps and variety of music and tempos during each set was very entertaining, and it was thrilling to watch the band members and color guard moving forward, backwards and sideways into different formations, all without missing a beat.
