911 calls rising

The total number of calls to 911 is already ahead of 2016’s total, but more significantly, the number of overdose calls has already more than doubled and the number of drug related calls is up, 911 Operations Director Laura Webster told the Knox County Commissioners Thursday.

United Way sets $1M goal

Although the 2017 United Way Live United campaign season officially started today at the annual kickoff breakfast, Early Bird pacesetters jumped on the bandwagon in August and September and donated $29,723, or 29.2 percent of this year’s $1 million goal.

Joshua Morrison/News Work has stalled on a new building on Coshocton Road in the area between Tim Horton’s and Shoe Carnival. The project company let the building permit lapse and must reapply for a new permit. The new building is planned to host up to four storefronts.

New storefronts on hold

Work finally began recently on the outbuilding at the Marshall’s shopping plaza, but was stopped this week by the city because the building permit had expired.
