MOUNT VERNON — The City of Mount Vernon has taken its first steps to “borrow” money from itself to help offset a shortfall in funding for 2017.

Monday night, City Council approved, as an emergency, a resolution authorizing the auditor to transfer $4,515 in funds into County Auditor Deductions from the TIF Improvements account, $5,000 from Water Reserve into Vehicle Maintenance and $10,000 from Fire Equipment into Fire-Maintenance of Equipment.
