MOUNT VERNON — Jacob Hackman caught the pass from Jake Taylor and couldn’t believe how wide open he was.

There was nothing in front of Hackman except an 88-yard stretch of synthetic grass, with the endzone barely peeking at the horizon.

The Taylor-Hackman hookup — which was Hackman’s third touchdown of the day — is an example of the success the Mount Vernon Black team has had in the Little Division of Mid-Ohio Colt Football. Mount Vernon Black is 2-0 so far this season. The team defeated West Holmes last Saturday, before defeating Lucas this past Saturday, 36-0.
