DELAWARE — For just the second time since 1947, the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets don’t have Delaware Hayes on their football schedule.

Instead, they have their first ever meeting with nearby Buckeye Valley.

The Barons play host to the Yellow Jackets this Friday at 7 p.m. Both teams will be looking for a 2-1 start to the season before conference play picks up next week.

Mount Vernon (1-1) is coming off one of its most impressive victories in years. The Jackets marched into refurbished White Field in Newark last Friday and demolished the Wildcats, 31-0. Jaxon Gregory had the best game of his career at quarterback, completing 12 out of 15 passes for 199 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown on a 14-yard carry.
