Sarah Poole/News Dan Dennis, concrete finishing manager at Modern Builders Inc., has been working as a construction worker in Mount Vernon for the past 32 years. One of his favorite parts about his construction work is having the opportunity to drive around town and show his wife all the building and roads he helped construct.

MOUNT VERNON — Every building we enter, every road we drive and every sidewalk we walk on is made possible due to the efforts of construction workers.

As his crew drilled and poured cement at The Woodward Opera House construction-site, Dan Dennis, concrete finishing manager at Modern Builders Inc., 490 Harcourt Road, informed the News regarding his rewarding experiences in the field of construction. Dennis, has been a construction worker in Mount Vernon for the past 32 years; he has spent the last seven years with Modern Builders and the previous 25 with United Precast Industries.

After graduating high school in 1977, Dennis decided to immediately begin working construction.
