MOUNT VERNON — Shannon Powers passed around cupcakes after the Mount Vernon tennis team’s season-opener at home against Zanesville.

The team was celebrating its first event at the brand-new Ramser Tennis Courts along Newark Road in Mount Vernon. But, that wasn’t why she brought the cupcakes.

“It’s my dog’s birthday,” Powers said, pointing to the Scooby Snack perched on the icing.
