MOUNT VERNON — Life has come full circle for the newest coach at Mount Vernon High School.

Former East Knox varsity soccer coach Bill Lonsinger is now the girls soccer coach at Mount Vernon, and the surprise hasn’t quite worn off yet.

For Lonsinger, the latest leg of life’s journey was a two-week roller coaster ride that started when East Knox terminated its soccer program three months ago. Disappointed at that time, he never dreamed that he would wind up at the helm of the Mount Vernon girls soccer team. A week after leaving East Knox, however, Lonsinger got the news that the Mount Vernon girls’ coaching position had become vacant. In an unexpected development, Amy Hale suddenly stepped down as their coach. Hale is expecting the birth of her child later this year.
